What are the causes of gynecomastia?
Generally, during adolescence, there may be a balance problem due to the intense hormonal activities and abnormal tissue growth in the breast part. Side effects of drugs or endocrine-related disorders can also cause breast enlargement in men. In addition to these, irregular diet and obesity in men are another factor in the formation of gynecomastia.
When is breast growth seen in men?
Breast enlargement seen in men is a health problem that can be seen in childhood, adolescence and over 55 years of age. While this problem should regress, especially between the ages of 15-18, sometimes it does not regress after adulthood and can be permanent and causes a feminine appearance in men.

Gynecomastia treatment
Before breast reduction surgery, physical appearance and current breast tissue are examined. The size of the breast tissue is examined in detail by our specialist physicians and any nipple discharge or other findings are observed. Afterwards, the presence of any of the liver disease, thyroid disease or kidney diseases is diagnosed and if there is no problem, the procedures for breast reduction surgery are started. Breast reduction surgery can be performed under general anesthesia or local anesthesia, depending on the patient’s condition. After anesthesia, the operation takes up to 1 hour. After surgery, our patients do not need to stay in the hospital, but you may have pain for 2-3 hours after surgery.
